I managed to rush out yesterday without my Switch/Maestro card. So I had to use my credit card instead. I had to buy some stuff in Marks & Spencers, and was mostly concerned with whether or not there was enough credit to cover the purchase. So it wasn't until the assistant said "Please enter your PIN" that I realised I didn't have a clue what it was! But after several seconds wracking my brain as to how I might be able to retrieve it, I realised that it was saved in a little electronic wallet application I use. Only thing is, that's on my laptop. But there was on other way, so I explained to the assistant (who was a bit non-plussed but perfectly happy to in along it) that I'd have to fire up my laptop and would them be able to retrieve my PIN. So there I stood at the "Please pay here" desk in Marks & Spencers, booting up my laptop, which takes ages! But it finally made it, and I extracted the info I needed. The assistants behind the desk had changed shift in the meantime, but the new one had been given an outline of what I was doing, so at least I didn't have to try explain it all again! She rang up the purchases again and this time it all worked fine.
I've now got the number written down.
