I'm still trying to get a feel for the optimum distance for the close-up mode on the camera on my new Nokia N80. I've nearly got it right with this image, but it's still just a touch out of focus - I think I'm going in a bit too close.

When we were children, our parents would set a treasure hunt on our birthdays, hiding our birthday presents around the house and writing cryptic rhyming clues to each location, which we had to solve in order to track down each present. Lynn does the same with her children.

Late night preparations for the birthday. I bought a string of little paper lantern lights which I thought would look pretty draped around the presents on the table, but which turned out to be incredibly difficult to put together! But Chris figured out a way to do it and so ended up with the task of setting up all 20 of the little lanterns, in between making origami boxes for some of the little presents.

On our way to the railway station to visit my sister Lynn and her family for a couple of days. One of her daughters is 10 tomorrow, so we come bearing gifts.

Nokia N80 Have finally been weaned off my beloved 6630 by the Nokia N80 (3 megapixel camera with close-up mode, 3G and wi-fi, etc). Then found they are like golddust and sold out in Orange shops everywhere in central and west London. But I finally tracked one down in the Orange shop in Paddington station last night (sorry - it was the last one in stock!). By that point I would not have been answerable for my actions if anyone had got between me and that phone!

Today, the phone is up and running, I'm looking forward to exploring it at length, and I am a happy woman.
