Off and On

Oh dear - didn't mean to scare Chris!

I actually thought the post about being on the bus and getting ready to go to sleep got sent straight after I got on the bus at 11pm.  But it didn't, and as I then switched off my phone and went to sleep, I didn't realise, and didn't get Chris's voicemail message at 1:30am.  Woke up briefly just after 3am when the bus stopped for half an hour at Keele Services, switched the phone on for a couple of minutes to check for messages - at which point it must have sent the original post - but either it didn't report the voicemail message or I was still half asleep and didn't notice it.  So switched it off again, and went back to sleep.  It was only when I got off the bus at Heathrow and switched my phone back on again that I discovered his message and discovered that the original post didn't go through when I thought it had, leaving him looking at a message about me standing in a deserted bus station, and nothing further for almost 4 hours!

I'm really sorry, my dear!

On a bus heading home

I've had a couple of cigarettes, freshened up in the Ladies, queued up and collected my (paper) tickets for the journey next week, and now I'm finally on the bus to Southall, Chris and home.

Found another use for my mobile

I fear Chris may disown me completely when he reads this, but when I was booking my bus tickets I discovered that National Express have introduced m-tickets - your ticket sent to you as a text msg! So that's what I requested. And when boarding the bus, while others handed over paper tickets for inspection, I held out my mobile phone. :) It worked too!

And we got here 15 minutes early! Slept very soundly for most of the journey, too.

On my way

I'm on the bus, which is now heading south. I don't know if it's a "feature" or if my seat is faulty, but every time I lean back, my seat reclines. Very disconcerting! Anyway, I'm going to try to get some sleep now, so an auto-reclining seat will be fine.

This is the bit I wasn't looking forward to. Hamilton bus station at 10:45pm. Bus due just before 11 - hope it's not delayed.

Got the train OK. On time too.
