Day one of main conference

Today the main WWW2006 conference kicks off.  However most of the sessions I'm interested in attending are tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, and I forgot to pack my other pair of shoes (the really comfy ones!), so I might duck out of this afternoon's stuff and go buy myself another pair of shoes, then get a piece of work done that I was way too tired to do last night, and which is really important and now rather urgent.  Feels like there's always something waiting to do that fits that category...

Oh dear - walls are paper thin

With the result that, sitting at the back of the room, I can hear the speakers in the room through the wall behind me almost as loud and clear as Rhys. Which is annoying, since Rhys's talk is very interesting.

Taking a break from cycling

Rhys Lewis, Volantis Systems and Chair of W3C Device Independence Group, takes a break from cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats (to raise money for RNIB as it happens, so he must be a nice man), to give one of the keynote talks at the Mobile Web workshop - "The Meaning of 'Life': capturing intent from Web authors".
